Andy Warhol remains one of the most influential figures in contemporary art and culture. His omnivorous curiosity resulted in an enormous body of work that spanned every available medium and, most importantly, contributed to the collapse of boundaries between high and low culture. What is not widely known about Andy Warhol is that the sale of his works has raised millions of dollars for amfAR. And Warhol’s support of amfAR is not solely demonstrated by the donation of his works—in 1986 he hosted amfAR’s earliest fundraising events at the New York Academy of Art.
